Practical notes on building a better pipeline
Short guides for teams assessing how to improve qualification, outbound and follow-up. Each starts with a question worth answering inside your own business.
Before automating calls: define a good handoff
Write down the minimum information a salesperson needs before returning an enquiry. For a contractor that might be service, site, urgency and decision-maker; for real estate it may be property type, budget, location and timing. If the workflow cannot capture those, faster response alone will not fix the handoff.
Before buying another list: define account fit
Start with the businesses you actually serve. Describe geography, size, site or property type, likely buyer role and the trigger for a conversation. Review a small sample manually before scaling. A narrow list with a credible reason to reach out is more useful than a large unfiltered export.
Before reactivating a CRM: audit the records
Check duplicate contacts, original enquiry, last activity, contact permissions and opt-outs. Segment by intent and age. Give the sales team a way to see the full prior conversation when someone replies, rather than restarting from a cold script.
